Annual Russian Film Festival took place in the Laotian capital
Vientiane and other cities from October, 29 untill November 3,2009. The
week long event featuring five Russian films was organised by the
Russia-Laos and Laos-Russia friendship associations in cooperation with
the Russian Embassy to Laos to celebrate the 50-th anniversary of
diplomatic relations between Russia and Laos next year.
Official Russian delegation headed by Mr.V.Sokolin,President of the
Russia-Laos friendship association,
Chairman of the intergovermental Russian-Laotian commission on
trade,economic,scientific and technical cooperation participated in the
film festival.
Speeking at the opening ceremony Mr.S.Lazaruk, delegation
member,first secretary of the Russian Union of cinematographers as well
as Mr. Bounchao Phichit,Director General of the Cinema Department of the
Ministry of Information and Culture called the festival as an "Event" in
the cultural life of Lao PDR works to broaden friendship between the two
countries and boosts cooperation in the film industry, in particular.
During the week the Head of the Russian delegation Mr.V.Sokolin and
delegation member,first deputy Chairman of the Russian Peace fund
academician I.Panfilov offically met with Laotian Prime-minister and
first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Phongsavat Boupha. More,
