Vladimir P. Maslin has passed away.

In the late eighties Mr. Maslin was the first Deputy Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Region Committee under the Government of the USSR; was elected a people.s deputy, a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Mr. Maslin was a full-fledged member of the Academy of pedagogical and social sciences, Lomonosov prizewinner, Vavilov prizewinner, Vernadsky prizewinner. He was awarded medals and orders of the USSR, Russia, Vietnam, Democratic People.s Republic of Korea, PDR and a number of other countries.

He was among those initiated the Books in memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War.

In recent years Mr. Maslin was Vice-President of the International Assiciation of Peace Funds, Chairman of the Russian-Lao Friendship Society.
